Some Details About The Prize
Together with the Lynn Foundation, the Company initiated The Lynn Painter-Stainers’ Art Prize in 2005 to encourage representational painting in Britain.
They receive over 2000 entries each year. About 90 of are shortlisted for the Prize by an independent panel of judges, generally including an art critic, a gallery owner and a young artist. These are displayed in an exhibition which has become a showcase of outstanding contemporary portraiture, landscape and still life painting from artists throughout the UK
The exhibition is hung at the Mall Galleries in London,  In addition, during the exhibitions, we host a number of events including art master classes and lectures aimed at children from inner-city schools.
£35,000 is awarded in prize money with the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize being £20,000 along with an engraved gold medal, a Second Prize of £4,000, a Young Artist Prize of £4,000 for artists 25 years or under, and the Daphne Todd Prize of £2,000. In addition there is the Brian Botting award of £5,000 for an artist aged 30 or under for an outstanding drawing of the human figure.
